Speaking at the closing ceremony after the final, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Van Nghia said the tournament holds a significant meaning, showing solidarity, friendship and development of armies in the regional bloc.
The event is an opportunity for military personnel from ASEAN member states to strengthen collaboration, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and mutual growth of the region as well as the world, he added.
Underway from October 3-8, the tournament featured the participation of 160 coaches and athletes from Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and the host nation, Vietnam.
It was divided into two groups, with host Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in Group A while Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand in Group B.
During the tournament, athletes had a chance to participate in cultural and art exchange activities and tours to some historical and cultural relic sites in HCM City.
