A carbon credit is a commercially tradable certificate that represents the right to emit one tonne of CO2 or its equivalent. In Vietnam, carbon credits are considered a new commodity.
It is estimated that each carbon credit costs about 5 USD. Every year, Vietnam can earn hundreds of millions of dollars.
Vietnam needs to develop appropriate legal corridors and mechanisms to promote the development of the carbon credit market and ensure the harmonisation of benefits and revenue for carbon credit investors and stakeholders.
