On December 6, the Vietnam Television Union delegation, led by Mr. Dinh Dac Vinh, Deputy General Director and President of the Union, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Bao Yen District, visited people of Lang Nu village and the officers, soldiers, and workers of Regiment 12 and presented gifts in celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year 2025.
The Union also inspected the construction progress of the memorial monument for the victims of the devastating flash floods and landslides that occurred in Lang Nu village. This memorial is a project funded and managed by the Vietnam Television Union in collaboration with the Vietnamese Loving Heart Fund, which allows local residents to come and pay their respects to the victims. The delegation also commemorated the victims of the deadly disaster that struck Nu village in Phuc Khanh Commune, Bao Yen District, Lao Cai Province on September 10, 2024, which claimed over 60 lives and left many missing.
On the same day, the Vietnam Television Union, in collaboration with the Bao Yen District People’s Committee and GBlife Global Joint Stock Company, presented 40 gift packages to 40 households in Nu Village. During the visit, Mr. Dinh Dac Vinh expressed his sympathy to the people of Nu Village, hoping they would overcome their grief and loss, stabilize their lives, and create favorable conditions for their children’s education while alleviating their difficulties in preparation for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
During the trip, the Vietnam Television Union also visited and presented gifts to the preschool children and teachers at Phuc Khanh No.1 Preschool, Bao Yen District, Lào Cai Province. At the Nu Preschool, seven young children will never be able to return to class. The storm has passed, leaving behind the grief, but now the school is gradually returning to its educational rhythm. The teachers continue to shower the children with love in every lesson to make learning exciting and to ensure that every day at school is a joyful and peaceful one.
As part of the visit, the Vietnam Television Union also inspected the ongoing construction projects and provided further support and encouragement to the teams working on the ground. The delegation xpressed their appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the soldiers and workers involved in the reconstruction efforts.
Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Dung, construction site commander of Regiment 12, reported that the new resettlement area for Nu Village is being built with 40 stilted houses, a community center, and a school. The 40 stilted houses are almost finished, with the roofing and painting finished. The electrical and plumbing work has been completed, and the flooring is 90% complete.. Out of the 40 houses, 18 have had their doors and windows fully installed. The roof of the community center was completed by December 6, and work is now underway to finish the interior. The school building is in the process of completing its roof framing, and it is expected that the roofing will be fully completed in the next three days.
The relocation site is being built at Doi Sim, a high and spacious area that provides security and is located about 2 kilometers from the old village. The construction costs for the Lang Nu Village resettlement area are funded by the Vietnamese Loving Heart Fund, Vietnam Television (VTV), and partners. Regiment 12 – the Truong Son Construction Corporation under the Ministry of National Defense – is in charge of carrying out the project.
