Vietnam Television won the first prize of the 2017 Foreign Information Service Award.

VTV.vn - The program Day of Return - Desert Flowers won the first prize at the 2017 National Foreign Information Service Award.

The Central Commission for Propaganda and Education and the Central Steering Committee for Foreign Information Service jointly held a ceremony to present the  2017 Foreign Information Service prizes on June 14. Sixty seven works were selected to be awarded 7 first prizes, 15 second prizes, 18 third prizes and 27 commendation prizes for domestic and foreign press agencies and publishing houses.

At this year's award ceremony, Day of Return – Desert Flower was presented with the first prize and the documentary film Nguyen Ai Quoc – Enigma from France won the 2nd prize.

Second prize winner Khuong Quynh Lien said the production crew was very happy and honored with this award. "The award is a great encouragement for us to continue carrying out the task of disseminating Vietnamese information abroad, helping our international friends to understand more about Vietnam, the country and its people".

“ We, the film crew, received a lot of feedback from the audience after the documentary was aired in May 2017. Many Facebook and YouTube pages shared the link of the movie. We have learned some useful experiences to develop the upcoming documentary film projects’,  Khuong Quynh Lien added.

"Making documentaries about history is not easy, making it attractive is even harder. We think, that the audience understand the revolutionary path of Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh in France is our achievement”.

At the 2017 Overseas Information Service Award, the organizers received 970 submissions, an increase of 9% over 2016. Entries are in print, electronic, radio, television, press, landscape photos and books.

The entries are available in 15 languages: Vietnamese, English, French, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Bulgarian, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Lao, Khmer, Slovakian, German, Thai. .

In addition to the central news agencies and  the mainstream press, the event received the participation of 115 press agencies and publishing from the provinces. Particularly, there were 22 entries from Russia, China, Spain and Cuba.
