On the evening of December 18, the 4th National Journalism Awards on the National Assembly and People’s Councils (Dien Hong Awards) ceremony took place at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi. This important political and cultural event formed part of activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026).
Those in attendance included: former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Politburo Member and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; former Politburo Member and former Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung; Politburo Member, Party Central Committee Secretary, and Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac; Politburo Member and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien, Head of the Awards Steering Committee; Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Commission for Information and Mass Mobilization, General Tran Van Quyet; and members of the Party Central Committee including Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh, and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan.

Also present were members and alternate members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central ministries, departments, agencies, and mass organizations, leaders of People’s Councils, heads and deputy heads of National Assembly delegations from various provinces and cities.

Following the launch of the awards on January 5, 2025, the Organizing Committee received 3,508 entries from 125 central and local press agencies and journals over a period of more than ten months, ending on 12 November 2025. Following classification and screening, 659 works met the criteria for the preliminary round. From these, the Preliminary Jury selected 91 outstanding works for the final round.

Among the five Grade A award-winning works, the Central Highlands and Central Vietnam Regional Television Center (VTV8) of Vietnam Television was honored for its two-part reportage “Two-Tier Local Government - A Historical Imprint” by the group of authors Ho Thai, Vinh Loc, Tran Long, Phu Thanh, Quang Tien, Tung Lam, Do Vinh, and Van Giang. In addition, Vietnam Television was also awarded a Grade C prize for the work “80 Years of the National Assembly of Vietnam: Memories of the First General Election” by the group of authors , consisting of Thanh Trung, Quang Hanh, and Thanh Xuan from the News Department.

The Dien Hong Awards are held annually to recognize and honor authors and author groups whose journalistic works cover the National Assembly and People’s Councils. The awards encourage journalists to continue improving the quality of their work, providing vivid and timely coverage of elected bodies’ activities, thereby enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels.
