On the afternoon of August 1, 2024, at the headquarters of VTV in Hanoi, Deputy General Director Do Thanh Hai received the Minister of Social Affairs and Communications of Timor-Leste, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Television and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tatoli News Agency of Timor-Leste.
Mr. Espedito Dias Ximenes, Minister of Social Affairs and Communications of Timor-Leste, expressed his sincere gratitude to Deputy Director General Do Thanh Hai and VTV for the welcome. Explaining the purpose of the visit, Mr. Espedito Dias Ximenes said that National Television of Timor-Leste is a public television and its budget comes entirely from the national budget. The delegation wished to learn about the organization and operation of VTV and to propose cooperation in program production and news exchange between the two state broadcasters.
Giving an overview of VTV, the Deputy Director General said that VTV is the largest broadcaster in Vietnam with 54 years of history. It is headquartered in Hanoi, with 3 regional centers and 11 overseas offices. VTV currently has nine national channels broadcasting around the clock, 30-40 pay TV channels and the national digital platform VTVgo.
According to Espedito Dias Ximenes, Timor-Leste is about to join ASEAN and wants to cooperate with member countries in many aspects. The National Television of Timor-Leste and Vietnam Television have similarities in terms of organization, he said, adding that he would like to learn the management and operation methods of Vietnam Television.
