Vietnam Television is ready to assist Laos in the field of journalism and media
VTV.vn - Vietnam Television and the Central Propaganda Commission of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party held a working meeting on the morning of July 16.

Le Ngoc Quang, member of the Party Central Committee and General Director of Vietnam Television, received the delegation of the Central Propaganda Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party on a working visit to Vietnam.

The delegation from the Central Propaganda Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party was led by Deputy Head Sakhone Phommalath.

From 2016 to 2022, VTV has supported the construction of three radio and television broadcasting stations in Champasak, Udomsay and Bokeo with a total aid of more than 268 billion VND. The investment project to build "Radio and Television Station in Houaphan Province" with an aid capital of nearly 139 billion VND is also being implemented in the period from 2022 to 2026. These are non-refundable aid funds from the Vietnamese government and people to their Lao peers.

In addition, technical support for Lao National Television, Lao dubbing/subtitling of VTV programs, and production of Vietnamese news for broadcast on Lao National Television channels have also been regularly provided by Vietnam Television for many years.

Every year, the College of Television of Vietnam Television provides free training to ten Lao students, and six training courses have been completed. In addition, Vietnam Television has also conducted many technical and content production courses for Lao National Television.

Director General Le Ngoc Quang affirmed that VTV is willing to exchange experience with the Central Propaganda Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party in the field of ideology and culture, in the way of construction and operation, and in carrying out the political tasks assigned to VTV by the Party and the State. As the main multimedia media agency, VTV performs the function of informing and propagating the Party's directives and policies and the State's laws, contributing to education, improving people's knowledge and serving the people's emotional well-being, he said.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Sakhone Phommalath thanked VTV for its enthusiastic support and assistance to Laos in the past time in the context of Lao television and radio stations lacking and facing difficulties in infrastructure, personnel and expertise. Mr. Sakhone Phommalath said that at this stage, Laos is consolidating the Central Propaganda Committee, focusing on the development of radio, television, press and media, so it is exploring to transfer Lao National Television to the Central Propaganda Committee.

The Central Propaganda Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party hopes to learn from VTV's practical experience and advice on issues such as finding revenue sources, pay television, disseminating policies and guidelines, training personnel, and controlling and combating erroneous views and hostile forces.
