According to the Ministry of Health, as many as 119 cases were detected in quarantine facilities and sealed off areas.
As of June 24 noon, Vietnam has seen 1,726 imported and 12,390 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases. The number of local infections since the fourth wave of outbreaks hit the country on April 27 has climbed to 10,820, including 2,910 recoveries.
Sixteen localities have not seen new infections in the community for two weeks.
Of those who are still under treatment at medical facilities, 341 have tested negative for the coronavirus once, 143 twice and 130 thrice.
Two new fatalities raised the country’s death toll to 72 on June 24, according to the subcommittee for treatment of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
The deceased, both male and aged 82 and 88 years old, were of Bac Giang Province and suffered from severe underlying medical conditions.
After detecting six local people tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, on the morning of June 24, Tuy Hoa City in Phu Yen has applied medical blockade on six areas, including five residential areas and a private medical facility. From 3 pm on June 24, local authorities applied a strict social distancing order within 15 days on the city with drastic measures to prevent and control the epidemic according to the direction of the Prime Minister in Directive No. 15/CT-TTg.

On the morning of June 24, Binh Thuan Province agreed to apply the social distancing order under Directive 15 for 14 days on Phan Thiet City starting from 12 am on June 24, and Tuy Phong District from 0:00 on June 25. Binh Thuan continues to suspend entertainment and recreational activities, as well as non-essential business establishments and beach swimming activities. Local restaurants may only sell takeout.
On the same day, Lao Cai Province decided to activate a field hospital located at the Lao Cai Forensic Centre to get ready to receive and treat COVID-19 patients, while preparing medical equipment and supplies to deal with the immediate epidemic situation.
Bac Giang Province has issued a decision on the removal of a strict social distancing order in Bac Giang City from 6 am on June 24, after the city has not recorded new infections in the community in the past 21 days. However, the city continues to maintain a number of measures to prevent and control the epidemic as set in Directive 19/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister.

Bac Ninh Province has issued a document allowing all businesses in the province to reopen, except for those with infection cases and not meeting the requirements of epidemic prevention and control. In addition, the province allows businesses to welcome workers from other provinces and cities to Bac Ninh to work, including workers from the neighbouring province of Bac Giang, provided that the workers are not subject to medical isolation, not from areas where Directive 16 is applied, and are in compliance with testing. Bac Ninh requires, every week, businesses must test at least 20% of the total number of workers at their factories.
