Vietnam supports Myanmar with US$50,000 donation in COVID-19 combat

VTV.vn - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung has symbolically handed over US$50,000 as a gift from Vietnam to Myanmar Ambassador Kyaw Soe Win to help Myanmar fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing the handover ceremony, Deputy Minister Dung affirmed that Vietnam presented the gift to Myanmar in the spirit of friendship and close neighborhood to combat the pandemic despite Vietnam being also affected by the pandemic.

The donation not only demonstrates the cohesion and mutual support between the two countries but also an expression of solidarity among ASEAN countries, Dung said.

He expressed his hope that the aid will help Myanmar to overcome these current tough times.

Myanmar Ambassador to Vietnam Kyaw Soe Win thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for the assistance, noting that the timely support is a great source of encouragement for Myanmar to overcome their difficulties during this period.

He added that his country will coordinate closely with Vietnam and other ASEAN countries to overcome the pandemic in accordance to the ASEAN Statement on the fight against the pandemic issued in March.
