Vietnam strives to earn VND700 trillion from tourism in 2019
The Vietnamese tourism sector is approaching to the target of welcoming 17.5 -18 million international visitors in 2019.
The Vietnamese tourism sector is approaching to the target of welcoming 17.5 -18 million international visitors and serving 85 million domestic tourists in 2019, while earning an estimated total revenue of VND700 trillion (nearly US$30.1 billion).

According to information released by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on September 16, the agency has coordinated with many others to successfully organise the programmes promoting Vietnamese tourism in Tokyo city as well as Kanagawa and Hokkaido provinces in Japan.

The VNAT also affirmed that Japan is one of the key markets of the Vietnamese tourism sector. The number of Japanese visitors to the country reached nearly 830,000 in 2018 (a year-on-year increase of 3.6%), and over 620,000 in the past months of this year (up 13.7%).

Following Japan, Vietnam will continue to attend the 2019 China-ASEAN Expo Tourism Exhibition from October 18-20 in Guilin, China.

The tourism promotion events are positive activities aimed to attract more foreign tourists from potential markets, including China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Europe, to fulfil the goal for 2019.

The VNAT also announced that the country has jumped from 67th to 63rd position in the recent Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) released by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
