VTV.vn - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has sent the first flight bound for Bucharest (Romania) to evacuate Vietnamese people in Ukraine from conflict zones.

The flight left Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport on the morning of March 7 and is scheduled to return the following day with 283 passengers onboard.

A second evacuation, flight operated by Bamboo Airways, will arrive in Poland on March 9.

At the request of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of Consular Affairs, a third flight to Bucharest is expected to take off from Hanoi on March 10 and return the following day.

The evacuees are not required to be tested for COVID-19 if they can show vaccination certificates or have recovered from the disease prior to boarding the aircraft bound for Vietnam.

Under a plan by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Vietnamese citizens in Ukraine will travel by road to neighbouring countries and flights will then be organised to bring them home from those countries.
