Vietnam sees five more imported cases of COVID-19

VTV.vn - Vietnam recorded five new imported cases of COVID-19 between 6am and 6pm of October 9, raising the total infections to 1,105, according to the national steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control.

The five male patients are Indian experts working at the Sethia Hemraj Rice Oil Co. Ltd. They arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on October 6 and have been quarantined in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap since then.

They are now undergoing treatment at the Sa Dec General Hospital of Dong Thap.

Among the 1,105 cases so far, 691 are domestically infected ones, including 551 since July 25, when the latest outbreak began.

October 9 is the 36th straight day Vietnam is free of community transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing COVID-19.

As many as 1,024 patients have recovered so far while the number of fatalities still stands at 35.

Of those still under treatment, five have tested negative for the coronavirus once, seven others twice, and five thrice. There aren’t any patients in critical condition at present, the treatment sub-committee reported.

There are 14,250 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit areas under quarantine at present, including 276 in hospitals, 11,549 in other quarantine sites, and 2,425 at home or accommodation facilities.
