Respect for and the willingness to comply with international law to ensure the implementation of international law. This will be a basis to solve other issues in the East Sea.
The spokesperson for Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry Le Hai Binh has recently spoken on the upcoming judgement: “Vietnam was informed of the tribunal’s schedule and as a country with a direct connection to the East Sea disputes and as a member state of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, Vietnam has been monitoring the case closely".
"Vietnam hopes the tribunal will issue a fair and objective decision on a petition filed by the Philippines contesting China’s claims to disputed areas in the East Sea, creating a foundation to peacefully settle disputes in the region. Vietnam continues to follow a consistent policy of settling disputes through peaceful means, in line with international law, like the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea”.
