Fifty-seven new cases were logged in the northern province of Bac Giang, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, the MoH said in its 06.00am COVID-19 update.
Elsewhere, 27 more cases were detected in Bac Ninh, another COVID-19 hotspot in northern Vietnam, one each in Bac Lieu, Gai Lai and at the K Cancer Hospital No2 in Hanoi.
Notably, the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu documented the first case that had come into direct contact with a COVID-19 patient closely linked to the hotspot at the Revival Ekklesia Mission Vietnam, a Christian congregation in Ho Chi Minh City.
The MoH data show Vietnam has recorded 3,594 locally transmitted cases in 33 cities and provinces nationwide since the resurgence of the virus in late April.
Bac Giang, which close to Hanoi capital, is the worst hit locality, reporting nearly 1,900 new cases.
The MoH is considering putting up three more field hospitals there to receive and treat patients as the number of infections is expected to rise in the coming days.
