With this year's HDI of 0.704, Vietnam has joined the High Human Development group to rank 117 out of 189 countries and territories.
Over the past 20 years, Vietnam's HDI has increased by nearly 46%, in the group of countries with the highest growth rates in the world. In terms of quality of human development, Vietnam is performing well on indicators of health, education, employment, and rural development.
The UNDP Human Development Report 2020 also delivered a message to the world leaders that we need to reduce the pressure on the environment and the natural world to sustain the progress of mankind./
