VTV.vn - Vietnam Railways (VNR) has announced two expected plans on resuming operation of trans-nation Thong Nhat (reunification) passenger trains and inter-regional rail routes from October 1.

The resumption of trains aims to gradually restore passenger transport activities by railway in line with the new situation as localities around the country are easing epidemic prevention and control measures.

Under the first plan, on the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route, the pairs of trains coded SE7/SE8, SE3/SE4 and SE5/SE6 will be resume operation from October 1, 7 and 14, respectively.

The regular trains coded LP5/LP6 and LP3/LP8 between Hanoi and Hai Phong will begin operation from October 1 and 8, respectively. LP7/HP2 trains will be added on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the route.

For the Hanoi - Vinh route, the regular trains NA1/NA2 will be on service from October 8; meanwhile, the trains coded SE19/SE20 are expected to run between Hanoi and Da Nang from that day.

In the southern region, the VNR plans to resume several passenger trains from Saigon to Nha Trang, Phan Thiet and Da Nang.

Under the second plan, trains coded SE7/SE8 will begin operating from October 1. In addition, the trains SE3/SE4 and SE5/SE6 will resume movement from the 14th and 21st days of the next month, respectively.

The Hanoi – Hai Phong route will be served by regular trains LP5/LP6 and LP3/LP8 from October 8 and 15, respectively. The added trains LP7/HP2 will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The trains coded NA1/NA2 will be permitted on the Hanoi – Vinh route from October 15 and the trains SE19/SE20 will serve passengers between Hanoi and Da Nang from October 15.

The trains connecting Saigon with Nha Trang, Phan Thiet and Da Nang are expected to be operation from late October or early November.

The VNR also plans to continue operating specialised trains to transport citizens from Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces back to localities as needed.
