As part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, the conference was attended by Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City; Shiozaki Akihisa, Parliamentary Deputy Minister, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan; Dr. Takagi Kuninori, President of IUHW Group, Prof. Dr. Suzuki Yasuhiro, President of IUHW; Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Deputy Minister of Health; doctors from hospitals and universities; experts in the fields of politics, administration, economics, and health of Vietnam and Japan.
At the conference, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan and the Ministry of Health of Vietnam agreed to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Japan and Vietnam in the fields of medicine and health care, as well as educational cooperation and human resource development in terms of health, welfare and medical cooperation.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong emphasised that over the past 50 years, the two countries have gained achievements in cooperation in the health sector.
Together, the two sides carried out activities to support policy development, exchange of experts, training to improve the capacity of medical staff, and provide medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and scientific research.
The conference includes five thematic sessions and a discussion session " Medical services and health care in the future”.
Discussion sessions revolved around the future healthcare system, market development for medical equipment and Japanese pharmaceuticals in Vietnam, clinical trials and pharmaceutical licensing processes in Southeast Asia, providing high-quality medical services, creating a process to improve the efficiency and safety of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment and developing future medical human resources.
