This is President Macron's first visit to Viet Nam since he took office in 2017 and was re-elected in 2022. The visit holds significance in the two countries’ relations, especially after they upgraded their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in October 2024 during the official visit to France by Party General Secretary To Lam.
