In her opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy noted that in 2001, the Prime Minister decided to take June 28 each year as Vietnam Family Day.
With the theme "Happy Family – Prosperous Nation", the Vietnamese Family Festival aims to honour the traditional cultural values of the Vietnamese family, while at the same time contributing to raising awareness of sectors, levels, and the entire society regarding the role and position of family in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
This event also provides an opportunity for localities to exchange and share experiences regarding family work, aiming for the sustainable development of the family in the period of industrialisation, modernisation, and international integration.
This year’s event features a wide range of activities, such as displaying documents, images, and artifacts to introduce the cultural beauty of the family; communication on domestic violence prevention, women’s work, and gender equality; protecting and caring for children and the elderly; achievements in family economic development; and promotion and introduction of traditional crafts and products.
The event will run until June 29.
