Vietnam exports first batch of frozen durian to China

VTV.vn - According to the Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first four months of 2025, the trade turnover of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products between Vietnam and China.

A shipment of 22.24 tonnes of frozen durian from Vietnam has entered China through the Bac Luan II border gate, part of the Mong Cai (Vietnam) – Dongxing (China) international border gate pair.

This is the first time that Guangxi has imported frozen durian products from Vietnam since the two countries signed the protocol on exporting frozen durian to China in August 2024.

At Bac Luan II border gate, the batch of frozen durian from Vietnam was strictly tested.

The leader of Guangxi Dongxing Customs Declaration Co., Ltd., Chen Jiqing, said that this batch of frozen durian originated from Vietnam's Lam Dong. After completing customs clearance procedures, it will be transferred to domestic food processing companies. Frozen durian has a long shelf life, is easy to eat and can be used for food processing. It is very popular among Chinese consumers and food processing companies.

The import of frozen durian has brought new opportunities for China-Vietnam agricultural trade, enriching the types of imported agricultural products at the border gate. To better serve businesses, Dongxing Customs has assigned experts to provide comprehensive support and guidance to businesses.

Previously, within the framework of a working visit to China, on May 28, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy held talks with Sun Meijun, Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, to discuss and coordinate to remove difficulties in exporting agricultural, forestry and aquatic products from Vietnam to China, especially durian.

According to the Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first four months of 2025, the trade turnover of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products between Vietnam and China was estimated at 5.07 billion USD, up 3.7% over the same period in 2024. Of which exports from Vietnam reached about 3.62 billion USD (down 1.1%), and imports 1.45 billion USD (up 17.6%).

To date, the two sides have signed 28 agreements and protocols related to the import and export of agricultural products. Many products have been officially exported to China, including 15 agricultural products including watermelon, mangosteen, durian, rambutan, longan, jackfruit, bird's nest, crocodile, farmed monkey, and milk./.
