Vietnam, Cuba discuss possible COVID-19 vaccine production cooperation

PM Pham Minh Chinh held phone talks on July 1 with his Cuban counterpart Manuel Marrero Cruz to share their experience in the COVID-19 fight in their respective nations and to discuss the possibility of co-operation in vaccine supply and production.

During the course of talks, they also discussed orientations and measures aimed at continuing to boost the special traditional friendship that exists between the two countries.

PM Chinh also congratulated Cuba on the success of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) and congratulated the Cuban PM on his election as Politburo member of the CPC.

After thanking the Cuban Government for sending medical experts and medicine to Vietnam to help it cope with the pandemic, PM Chinh noted the difficulties facing Cuba and affirmed that Vietnam is always ready to cooperate on ensuring food security for the country within its capacity. He congratulated Cuba on the positive results achieved in the research and development of COVID-19 candidate vaccines.

PM Marrero Cruz, on his part, said that Cuba wants to expand its collaboration with Vietnam in trade, investment, agriculture, health care, and pharmaceuticals, including the technology transfer of COVID-19 vaccine production.
