A portfolio for the geo-park was completed after scientists wrapped up surveys and analyses to identify its value as a heritage site.
The ancient Sa Huỳnh culture inhabited Lý Sơn Island and the park includes 2600 sq km of ocean for a total 4600 sq km.
More than 300 geological, cultural, and historical heritage sites were found in the geo-park area. Recognition of Lý Sơn -Sa Huỳnh as a global geo-park would be a chance for Quảng Ngãi Province to promote tourism and preserve its thousand-year-old cultural values.
