The two reviewed the results of defence co-operation between the US and Vietnam in recent years, as well as agreed on measures and orientations to promote ties in the coming time.
The ministry welcomed US dioxin decontamination efforts at Bien Hoa Airport and support for Vietnam’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations.
The two sides also asked for permission to allow a US aircraft carrier to visit the central city of Da Nang in March this year.
