Vietnam and Laos promote cooperation in journalism

Minh, who is also Chairman of the Vietnamese Journalists Association (VJA) and Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Communication and Education, said that the VJA has dispatched many experts to Laos to help enhance the skills of Lao journalists.

He stated that world journalism has seen rapid change in the past few years and the traditional way of doing journalism is no longer suitable, requiring the adoption of new skills to attract readers.

Underlining the role of digital platforms in communicating the Party and State’s policies, Minh stated that journalists should promote and seize on the opportunities brought through digital transformation.

He added that Vietnam is willing to share its experience in this process with Laos so that journalism in both countries may grow together.

For his part, LJA Chairman Savankhone Razmountry highlighted the significant developments in the relationship between the two countries, as well as the two journalist associations.

He stated that he was impressed with the Vietnam Press Museum, noting that the visit will help in forming ideas for building a similar museum in Laos.

Underlining human resources training as a focus of the LJA, Savankhone Razmountry expressed his wish to receive further support from the VJA in this field. At the meeting, the leaders of the two associations signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for the 2022-2027 period.
