VTV.vn - Airbus and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) jointly held an event on June 7 to mark their cooperation in developing the workforce and training experts for Vietnam’s aerospace industry.

To date, about 100 students in three disciplines have graduated from the university with bachelor’s degrees.

Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2016, Airbus has actively supported the establishment of the aeronautics department at USTH and developed sustainable and long-term educational programmes in cooperation with Bricks by Aerospace Valley and the Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ENAC).

According to Alessandra Erre, Director of International Cooperation at Airbus, the partnership between Airbus and USTH underlines the company’s commitment to developing Vietnam’s aerospace ecosystem.

Vietnam is currently a key market for Airbus in the Asia-Pacific region. Domestic carriers are operating more than 200 Airbus aircraft while another 107 are waiting for delivery.

Airbus is cooperating with many enterprises in Vietnam, such as Artus (Meggitt) Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, to supply electromechanical equipment for A320, A330 and A350 aircraft.

In Hanoi, Nikkiso Vietnam is manufacturing composite components for A320 Sharklet aircraft as well as parts for A330neo and A350 aircraft.

Airbus’s aircraft development programmes are creating jobs for 550 highly-skilled workers in Vietnam and the figure is expected to rise to 1,200 by 2030.

The corporation aims to support Vietnam in its journey to become a country with an important role in the global aerospace industry.
