Vietnam among bright spots in clean energy transition in Southeast Asia

VTV.vn - Data from the US has shown that 80% of US solar panels are imported from 4 Southeast Asian countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia.

This number shows the leading role Southeast Asia has taken on in clean energy development and component manufacturing. Vietnam, in particular, is considered a bright spot in efforts to transition to clean energy.

According to The Economist, from 2018 to 2021, Vietnam's proportion of solar power increased from zero to nearly 11%.

Last year, Vietnam became the tenth-largest solar power producer in the world. In addition, a study by the Australian National University showed that, since 2019, Vietnam has quadrupled its wind and solar capacity, thanks to political, market dynamics, and policy reforms, which have made it easier for foreign investors to do business in Vietnam.
