VTV.vn - Vietnamese carrier Vietjet has placed an order with Airbus for an additional 50 A321neo single aisle aircraft, finalising an MOU signed at the Farnborough International Airshow last July.

The US$6.5-billion purchase agreement was signed in Hanoi on November 2 by Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vietjet’s President and CEO, and Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer.

The order will support the development strategy of Vietjet, helping to improve the efficiency and scope of activities to develop its airline network and bring more international destinations to customers, while building an air union in the Asia Pacific area, the market with the fastest aviation growth in the world.

On the same day, Vietjet also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for LEAP-1B long-service maintenance, worth US$ 5.3 billion, with CFM International.

The MOU was signed by Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vietjet’s President and CEO, and Philippe Couteaux, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing of CFM International.

The signings were witnessed by Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of Vietnam and Edouard Philippe, Prime Minister of France, during his official visit to Vietnam.
