The requiem was held by the Buddhist Sangha of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province and is an annual event to commemorate the sacrifice of fallen soldiers and citizens during past wars.
The delegation, led by the state vice president, also visited a number of families of fallen soldiers on Con Dao Island and presented them with gifts. As one of Vietnam's most remote island districts, Con Dao was historically significant during the resistance wars of the 20th century.
