On the evening of June 28, at the Vietnamese Culture and Arts Exhibition Centre (No. 2 Hoa Lu street, Hanoi), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism opened the Vietnam Family Festival 2019.
Under the theme "Maintaining and promoting the good cultural traditions in the family", the festival featured various activities, including exhibitions, seminars and competitions on theme of family, as well as health counselling and cultural and artistic exchanges.
The event aimed to honour the values of traditional Vietnamese family culture, offering an opportunity to exchange and share experiences in building a cultural family, towards the sustainable development of Vietnamese families in international integration.
At the opening ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced winners of a painting competition on promoting communications against domestic violence and child abuse.
* That morning, on the occasion of the Vietnam Family Day, the National Action Month on the prevention and control of domestic violence and the 2019 Children's Action Month, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a workshop in Hanoi on the role and responsibilities of families in preventing and combating child abuse.
The workshop focused on discussing the situations, roles and responsibilities of families as well as the knowledge and skills necessary in preventing and fighting child abuse. Delegates also proposed solutions suited to practical conditions to promote the role of families in preventing and fighting child abuse.

* On June 28, the Thai Nguyen provincial Women's Union held various practical activities to commemorate Vietnamese Family Day.
* The same day, the Ninh Thuan provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to present the State Honour title of " Merited Artisans" in the field of intangible cultural heritages to 14 local artisans, as well as commending typical local cultural families.
