“Van Xuan” 2026: Revisiting Horse Years that Left Golden Marks on National History

VTV.vn - Van Xuan 2026 is a special six-minute television program that highlights memorable Horse years throughout the flow of the nation’s history.

In the program, MC Hanh Phuc appears  in iconic historical settings, dressed in costumes appropriate for  each era. Using elaborate  props, he guides viewers back through time to pivotal national events.

Filmed across numerous famous historical sites in Vietnam, Van Xuan creates an atmosphere that is simultaneously  sacred, contemplative, and cinematic. Beyond recounting history, the program evokes national pride and helps audiences  feel a deeper connection to  the cultural roots and Vietnamese spirit reflected in each notable Horse year.

Highlighted historical milestones featured in “Van Xuan” 2026:

Canh Ngo (550): Reclaiming autonomy - Trieu Quang Phuc defeated Liang forces, retook Thang Long, and restored national self-rule after years of foreign domination.

Binh Ngo (766): The uprising of Phung Hung - He rose up  against Tang oppression and rallied widespread public support, forcing enemy troops to withdraw.

Giap Ngo (1054): National name Dai Viet - Emperor Ly Thanh Tong changed the country's name from Dai Co Viet to Dai Viet, ushering in a flourishing era and affirming its independent.

Nham Ngo (1282) Binh Than Conference: Though too young to attend the military council, Tran Quoc Toan raised his own troops and embroidered the six-character banner “Break the strong enemy, repay the emperor’s grace,” becoming a symbol of youthful patriotism.

Binh Ngo (1786): End of the Trinh-Nguyen division - After defeating the Siamese forces and expelling Nguyen Anh from Gia Dinh, Nguyen Hue, under orders from Nguyen Nhac, led Tay Son troops north, overthrew the Trinh regime, and ended nearly 300 years of division   of  the division.

Canh Ngo (1930): Founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam - On February 3, 1930, the Party was established, marking a historic turning point that paved the way for independence and freedom.

Giap Ngo (1954): Victory at Dien Bien Phu - The triumph that “resounded across five continents and shook the globe” forced France to sign the Geneva Accords, paving the way for the historic liberation of Hanoi.

Van Xuan 2026 is scheduled to air on VTV during the Lunar New Year holiday.
