VTV.vn - Valentine's Day on February 14 coincides with Vietnam's traditional Tet holiday, when people are busy with the most important festival of the year.

On a central street in Hue these days, it is easy to see that paper flowers have replaced fresh flowers for Valentine's gifts this year. Though chocolate remains a classic gift for a Valentine, paper flowers have become a favorite option for couples.

"This Valentine is special because it falls on Tet. Besides classic gifts, people also chose paper flowers as presents this year." - Le Thi Thanh Thuy, Phu Dien Commune, Phu Vang District, Hue.

Though the Lunar New Year holiday is about to end, most of the students and workers still stay at their hometown; business, therefore, is not as busy as previous years. Fresh flower supply is limited due to the Tet holiday, so many people turn to paper flowers with more options for colours and designs.

"People choose paper flowers due to their diversity of colours and designs. They can also keep them for a longer time." - Tran Thi Y Nhi, Student, Hue College of Economics.

Due to a shortage in supply, the prices of fresh flowers are higher compared to last year, ranging from $5 to $27 for a bouquet.

"Though the supply of fresh flowers is limited, we still make sure that there will be enough flowers for customers, especially roses." - Nguyen Thi Cam Nhung, Roma flower shop owner, Hue.

Though the gift market hasn’t been busy these days, most shop owners expect it will be busy on February 14th, as lovers will buy gifts to express their affection for each other during the holiday.
