Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Wednesday received US Ambassador to Singapore Kirk Wagar and a delegation of US businesses who are looking for investment opportunities in Vietnam. At the meeting, Deputy PM Phuc said that the US was one of Vietnam's largest trade partners and investors, and US companies had contributed greatly to Vietnam's socio-economic achievements.
As both countries are negotiating the TPP agreement, the opportunities for economic exchanges could be positive. Ambassador Kirk Wagar responded that 81 per cent of US businesses in Singapore are looking to invest in other ASEAN countries, and Vietnam is their number one choice. He said he hoped that Vietnam would improve the investment climate to attract more US companies.
