One of the reasons could be that the POS has to be upgraded to be compatible with the new chip card standard. According to the State Bank's regulations, this year, commercial banks across the country must upgrade 50% of existing POS machines, equivalent to nearly 150,000 units.
The State Bank is targeting that in the next two years, the entire system, from cards, ATMs and POS machines will be synchronized with new chip card standards to ensure safety for payment transactions.
