Dead fish have begun reappearing on the beaches of Nhân Trạch Commune, Bố Trạch District in Quảng Bình Province. The fish have been accompanied by a stretch of red seawater moving northwards.
"I went fishing offshore and saw a stretch of yellow water. I hope that scientists will work out what is going on so we can continue fishing." - Nguyen Mam, Fisherman, Nhan Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province.
After receiving the news, a delegation from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and scientists visited the scene and collected samples.
"We’ve come here to investigate and have found that the sea is red. We also saw a stretch of yellow offshore." - PhD. Yasumo Fukuyo, Tokyo University, Japan.
The results of tests will be announced in the coming days.
