This is part of the latest report released by the United Nations Development Programme in Vietnam UNDP. Because of economic growth, Vietnamese people now have more job opportunities and equal access to basic social services, national targeted programs, and social protection policies.
The well-being and livelihoods of the poorest and most vulnerable people have been improved. Vietnam's multi-dimensional poverty rate decreased from nearly 16 percent in 2012 to 9 percent in 2016 which means that six million people escaped poverty.
This year, Vietnam moved up nine places from 66th to 57th out of 193 countries in the United Nations for Sustainable Development Index.
