The National Assembly Vice Chairwoman appealed to the UK to help Vietnam improve the parliamentary skills of young Vietnamese legislators. Phong said the two countries should support each other at multilateral forums like the Asia-Europe Meeting and the Inter-parliamentary Union.
Regarding the East Sea situation with the parliamentary group, she said Vietnam’s consistent policy of respecting the status quo in the sea, not using or threatening to use force and handling disputes through peaceful negotiations, on the basis of respecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and in conformity with international law, particularly the 1982 Convention of the Law of the Sea and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.
