Tug-of-war game receives UNESCO recognition

The game was recognized during the 10th session of the “Inter-governmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritages”. Tug-of-war is popular in the midlands, the Red River Delta, and the northern regions of Vietnam. This folk game and traditional ritual reflects a hope for rain and abundant harvests while predicting success for the coming year.
