VTV.vn - Forty two years ago, the Navy High Command and the High Command of Military Zone 5 successfully staged an offensive, liberating Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

Shortly after its liberation, the Spratly Island remained a wild and isolated place. Thanks to the hard work by officers and soldiers stationed on the island, the island has changed drastically. It's now covered by many different types of trees. Facilities, such as a port, lighthouse as well as systems of meteorological forecast and clean energy, have been built to develop the local economy and boost the capacity of safeguarding the national sovereignty at sea.

On this special occasion, a delegation of nearly 70 overseas Vietnamese from 21 countries and territories paid a visit to islands of Song Tu Tay, Da Nam, Son Ca and Nam Yet in the Spratly archipelago to give presents to its soldiers and residents.
