Viewers responded favorably to VTV Can Tho's documentary Through the Southern Khmer Cuisine after the premiere of the first episode of Banh Que Tu Thot Not on November 12.
The rich culinary heritage of the Khmer people includes foods that are imbued with the essence of their land and also convey ideals of customs and practices passed down through the years.
Despite the frequent references to Khmer food in travel and exploration shows, there hasn't been a cohesive narrative that allows viewers to understand the origins of the cuisine or the backstories of each mouthwatering dish. "Through the Southern Khmer Cuisine" aims to provide a clearer picture of it.
The documentary promises to be an easy-to-watch, in-depth, colorful and fascinating series of programs that exude the delicious and the strange. It tells a story through gorgeous visuals, character development centered around food and "seasoned" with the spices of life and people, and a distinctive perspective on ethnic minority culture.
