Two Missed Opportunities for the Laurel Wreath
During his journey to conquer Road to Mount Olympia, Tran Trung Kien has come very close to winning the laurel wreath twice, only to fall short. In the weekly competition, despite a strong start, Kien struggled in the later rounds, losing the victory to his opponent in the decisive questions, and finishing close second.
In the monthly competition, the Phu Yen student could not have imagined a similar scenario would play out again. Kien continued to impress, correctly solving the keyword in the Overcoming Obstacle round and holding the lead for most of the game. However, luck was not on his side in the Finishing round, and he once again missed out on the win. Nevertheless, with the highest second-place score, Kien fortunately earned the chance to advance to the Quarterly round.
Acceleration in the Quarterly Round
Having missed the laurel wreath twice by finishing second in the weekly and monthly rounds, Tran Trung Kien never lost heart. The Le Hong Phong High School student, who entered the Quarter 1 competition as the contestant with the highest second-highest scorer in the monthly round (165 points), showed remarkable determination and a strong breakthrough.
In the Warm-up round, Kien scored 40 points, placing him in second place, just 15 points behind the leader. However, in the Obstacle Course round, Kien quickly turned the tide by giving the correct answer to the keyword "VNEID" after the first clue, which put him in the lead with 110 points.
In the Speed-up round, Kien continued to showcase his excellent performance, being the only contestant to answer the first question correctly, earning 40 points. He then added another 20 points to finish the round with 170 points, well ahead of his competitors.
In the Finishing round, Kien chose a set of questions worth 20-30-20 points and answered 2 out of 3 correctly, raising his total score to 220. Notably, in this round, he successfully answered Minh Anh’s question with the star of hope, gaining an additional 30 points, further securing his lead. Although he lost 15 points on the following question, Trung Kien concluded the match with an impressive score of 235 points.
In the end, Trung Kien brilliantly secured the laurel wreath in the Quarter 1 competition with 235 points, officially advancing to the 24th Road to Mount Olympia final. He also made history by bringing the Olympia broadcast station to Phu Yen for the first time.
