Tourist spending in Vietnam remains low

While the number of tourists coming to the country has increased sharply, the revenue from tourism has not matched up to the rise.

According to Hanoi Department of Tourism, the average amount spent by a foreign tourist in Hanoi is 100 USD per day, depending on the cost of day trips and accommodations. Compared with other cities in the region and the world, spending of tourists in Hanoi is low. In comparison, foreign tourists spend an average of 286 USD a day in Singapore, 181 USD in Seoul (South Korea), and 173 USD in Bangkok (Thailand).
