Torrential rains hit northern Vietnam

On Sunday evening, Typhoon Mujigae with winds of up to 180kph hit the southern coast of China in Guangxi Province, killing at least four people and leaving 16 missing, China’s Xinhua News reported.

According to the Vietnam’s National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a cold front entering northern Vietnam has brought rain to the region, especially in mountainous areas.

Rains of up to 100mm will hit Quang Ninh, Lang Son and Cao Bang, while flash floods will likely happen in small rivers and streams in the northern region. Rains are likely to persist until midday Tuesday before it gradually easing, the centre said./.
