She emphasised that, during the most recent resistance wars for the nation’s independence and reunification, millions of soldiers and compatriots fell, while many others returned home no longer healthy or suffering from severe post-war consequences.
She said that to honour the great sacrifices and contributions by martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, war invalids and people with meritorious services to the nation, during the past 73 years, the Party, State and Vietnamese people always pay attention to the work of paying tribute to war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the country, reflected in the promulgation of various guidelines, policies and laws on preferential treatment for such groups, while also regularly reviewing to make timely amendments and supplements to ensuring the proper implementation of such preferential policies.

NA Chairwoman Ngan proposed that the MOLISA should continue perfecting policies and laws on incentives for people with meritorious services to the revolution, as well as boosting the review and confirmation of unresolved documents on this target group to offset their suffering and losses.
She also called on the relevant sectors, localities, socio-political organisations and compatriots both at home and abroad to work together to take better care of people with meritorious service to the nation, considering it as an affection, honour and responsibility to those who have made a great contribution to the cause of national liberation, reunification, construction and defence.
The NA leader expressed her hope that the wounded soldiers, veterans and families of the meritorious people would continue to promote their revolutionary tradition to gain more achievements and become good examples in the patriotic emulation movements, thereby contributing to firmly building and defending the Fatherland.
On the occasion, the organisers presented 20 gratitude houses, each worth VND50 million, to the families of Quang Nam’s social policy beneficiaries, in addition to 200 scholarships, each including a gift and VND1 million in cash, to local disadvantaged students.
Earlier, on the morning of the same day, NA Chairwoman Ngan and other senior leaders joined local officials in offering flowers and burning incense for fallen soldiers and heroic Vietnamese mothers at the Quang Nam Martyrs’ Cemetery and the Heroic Vietnamese Mother Monument in Tam Phu Commune, Tam Ky City.
