Twelve contestants sorted out from three previous contests on folk, pop and opera music competed in the final round.
The finalists performed the pieces newly composed or foreign songs in front of the jury board composed of musicians Duc Trinh, Quang Vinh, Tuan Phuong, Xuan Thuy; singers Tan Minh, Phuong Thao, Phuong Nga, Minh Anh.
Three best performers including Do Tho Hoa (opera) with the song Spring Dance, composed by Ho Dinh Kha and Vietnamese lyrics by An Hieu; Sen Hoang My Lam with the song Singing Voice in the Peak of Hoang Lien Mountain composed by Tran Ngoc Quang in the category of folk music; and Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy with the song Hallucination composed by Dominic Do Nghia and Hoang Quan won the pop music category.

Each first prize winner received worth 80 million dong and gift worth 60 million dong from FLC.
Five second prize winners including Lê Thị Nhung, Vũ Thị Thanh Thanh (opera), Phan Ngọc Ánh (folk music) Lâm Bảo Ngọc và Trần Thị Yến Nhi (pop music) each won 50 million dong from the organizers and other 50 million dong from FLC.
Four third prize winners: Lại Thị Hương Ly (opera), Lương Hà Mỹ Anh and Nguyễn Mai Thương (folk music) and Trần Thị Nhật Linh (pop music) each won 30 million dong.
Do To Hoa was voted by the journalist to win 20 million dong and the Favorite Singer prize. The Vietnam Musician Association awarded the Promising Star Prize to Tố Hoa, Mỹ Lam vand Thu Thuỷ. Some contestants won labor contracts from the Vietnam’s Dance and Music Troupe.
This year Morning Star Singing contest marked the 20th anniversary of the competition held by VTV which is known for revealing Vietnamese music talents.
