The carnival begun with a festive performance of drum beating and vibrant unicorn dance, followed by a parade led by forces from the frontline against the coronavirus outbreak including doctors and soldiers.
Then came artists showing Hanoi’s lively folk dances, along with flower floats that honour the capital city’s traditional handicrafts as well as rich cultural traditions.
The carnival also saw the participations of senior citizens, members of the youth union and sportspeople, as well as artists wearing traditional and contemporary ao dai gowns, walking on stilts, performing conjuring tricks and roller skating.
According to a local culture official, the carnival was an opportunity for the city to advertise itself as a hospitable city with immense artistic value and age-old traditions.
