Thousands of party-goers throw tons of tomatoes at Spanish festival

Tomatina is an annual food fight festival in the town of Bunol near Valencia, Spain. On this occasion, thousands of people make their way from all corners of the world to fight in the 'World's Biggest Food Fight' where more than one hundred metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes are thrown in the streets.

It was banned for a while during the 1950s at the height of General Francisco Franco’s dictatorship, but today draws large crowds of locals as well as foreign tourists.
