The 5 communes currently cut off are Pa Ve Su, Pa U, Thu Lum, Ta Ba, Mu Ca, and comprise of more than 50 villages. District authorities have put in a lot of effort to speed up the clearing of roads to ensure access to the communes. Nevertheless, the amount of debris after the floods has been considerable. Currently, residents of the communes have been surviving on dwindling supplies and await rescue forces. The recent floods have claimed the life of at least 1 person, leaving 2 missing and 3 others injured. 5 houses were reported to have collapsed while 32 houses have succumbed to the effects of landslides. Total damage has been estimated at over 1.7 million USD.
