Thailand supports disaster victims in Thai Nguyen province

VTV.vn - A Thai delegation led by Thai Ambassador to Vietnam, Tanee Sangrat, visited the northern province of Thai Nguyen on September 23 to present gifts in support of local residents suffering from natural disasters in recent days.

Representatives from the Thai embassy and several Thai businesses in Vietnam joined the delegation.

On behalf of the Thai Government and its business community, Tanee Sangrat presented US$20,000 in cash, along with necessities and medicine to the province’s authorities to share with the losses of locals, especially the disadvantaged households, who have been severely affected by natural disasters.

Speaking at the meeting with the Thai delegation, Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee, Tran Quoc To, expressed his sincere thanks to Ambassador Tanee Sangrat and officials from the Thai embassy and Thai businesses in supporting Thai Nguyen people who are dealing with post-disaster difficulties.

It is important to support and give meaningful encouragement to help disaster victims to overcome difficulties and stabilise their lives, To said, adding that the attention and support from the Thai side once again affirmed and contributed to deepening the good friendship between Thailand and Thai Nguyen.

In the afternoon on the same day, the Thai delegation also visited and presented gifts to two disadvantaged local households in Binh Minh and Minh Ly hamlets, both in Minh Lap communes, Dong Hy district, who were severely affected during the recent floods.

Earlier, from September 9 to 10, Thai Nguyen suffered from heavy rains combined with whirlwinds and lightning, leaving four people dead, one injured, nearly 1,100 houses flooded. Flooding also inundated about 670 ha of rice and multiple roads. The total damage has been estimated at over VND20 billion.
