VTV.vn - Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said on Tuesday that a general election he had promised to hold in November would take place no later than February 2019.

The government had promised and postponed elections several times since it came to power following a coup in 2014. The latest date was set for November but last month the newly appointed legislature changed the election law, signaling a further delay. Speaking to reporters in a weekly briefing, Prayuth said the government will meet with political parties around June to set a date for the election. On February 22, the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand had rejected all candidates for the Election Commission which complicates the coming election.
