VTV.vn - A teleconference promoting Japanese trade and investment in Da Nang City was held on September 30.

The event was jointly organised by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the People's Committee of Da Nang City, and the Japan Trade Promotion Organisation (JETRO).

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan said Vietnam is ready to welcome an investment wave of Japanese technology enterprises.

The Vietnamese Government has been perfecting models, mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs for information technology and hi-tech parks in key economic centres across the country, he noted.

In particular, Da Nang city is emerging as a “Silicon Valley” of Southeast Asia, he added.

The Da Nang authorities are also working with central agencies to build a digital ecosystem with priorities being given to attracting FDI projects in the high-tech sector, in order to build Da Nang into an attractive destination for global technological corporations.

According to a Japanese representative, with a total registered capital of more than US$60 billion from about 4,200 projects (including over 700 investment projects in the field of information technology and communications), Japan is currently the second largest foreign investor in Vietnam.

He also affirmed that Japan is one of the key markets to turn to for investment for Da Nang, adding that Japan has the advantages of capital, high-quality human resources, advanced information technology and promoting the IT investment and trade of Japanese enterprises in the city is an activity that benefits both sides.
